PATH TO CONSULTANT SOCIOLOGY

IPSS is a practical pathway for sociology graduates to become Certified Consultant Sociologists (CCS) through training, internship, and professional certification, and you can now practice sociology as a professional with credibility, community, and opportunities for real-world social impact.

Our goal is to promote the study of sociology and apply sociological knowledge for the benefit of society and the advancement of the profession.

Our Professional Scheme

STUDENT/GRADUATE MEMBERSHIP

To qualify, you need 5 credits, including Economics, Government or History, and Geography. Sociology, Anthropology, Social Psychology, Political Science, or Human Geography students may get automatic exemptions.

PROFESSIONAL/POST GRADUATE ENTRY/(PGE)

To qualify, you need 5 credits, a university degree in Social, Natural, Environmental Sciences, or Law. Exemptions are available for many social sciences and law courses. This stage has three paper parts.

ASSOCIATES PROFESSIONAL SOCIOLOGISTS

Associate status is granted to B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D. holders in Sociology, Social Work, Social Psychology, Anthropology, Criminology, and other ancillary courses under sociology. There is currently the direct membership scheme, which ends in 2026, that means no prior examination to this cadre, as long as you study the above listed courses. Thereafter, entry will require a test and completion of one of the three paper types.

CORPORATE/INSTITUTIONAL MEMBERSHIP

Institutional or Corporate membership is available to private institutions, non-governmental organizations, government institutions; including military, and paramilitary organizations, that supports, the study aabd advancement of sociological knowledge in Nigeria or beyond. This membership offers access to our resources, networking opportunities, members recruitment and continous professional development programs etc.
