IPSS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM (IIP)
Bridging Sociology with Practice
The Institute of Professional Sociological Studies (IPSS) Nigeria invites all qualified members to participate in the IPSS Internship Program (IIP) — a structured professional development platform designed to connect sociologists with real workplace experience, mentorship, and employability training.
The IIP offers a guided pathway for members to apply sociological knowledge in organizations, communities, and industry, while developing the professional competence expected of practising sociologists in Nigeria and beyond.
Who Can Enrol
Participation in the IPSS Internship Program is exclusively open to registered members of the Institute in any of the following categories:
Associate Members: Early career or graduate sociologists seeking field experience
Professional Members: Members who have not a sociological background, but who wishes to expand their knowledge in applied or consulting sociological capacity
Student (NYSC Members) : Members who just graduated and are currently eligible for service, who may want to be posted to an area or place of assignment that is relevant to sociology.
Program Features
Work-Readiness Bootcamp: Short pre-internship training on workplace skills, research applications, digital tools, and professional ethics.
Internship Placement: Structured field assignments with verified partner organizations in government, NGOs, research, policy, and development sectors.
Professional Mentorship: Guidance from experienced sociologists and IPSS Secretariate throughout the internship cycle.
Performance Assessment & Certification: Successful participants earn the IPSS Certificate of Professional Internship (CPI).

Program Duration
Internships typically last 3 to 6 months, combining virtual learning, mentorship, and in-person placement opportunities across Nigeria.
